Junior Music Exam Flute

The JME is a CMS exam and is the first exam you will take with us, usually in the 1st or 2nd year of lessons. Assessment takes place in school, with your instrumental teacher.

‘Kookaburra’ is an Australian nursery rhyme the kookaburra bird. It was written in 1932.

Part of the song was used in the song ‘Down Under’ by Australian pop band Men At Work – can you hear it?

Senior Music Exam Flute

The SME is a CMS exam and is the second exam you will take with us, usually in the 2nd or 3rd year of lessons. Exams usually take place at the Music Centre with a senior teacher from the music service.

 

A1 Rakes of Mallow

B1 Greensleeves

‘Greensleeves’ is a traditional English folk song that evokes the spirit of England. Although it is said that it was written by Henry VIII, this is probably not true!

Here is a version by famous English composer  Ralph Vaughan Williams’s  – Fantasia on “Greensleeves”

B2 Amazing Grace

Amazing Grace” is a Christian hymn first published in 1779 has been constantly performed since then.

This version is sung by Aretha Franklin.

C1 Over The Hills

‘Over the Hills and Far Away’ is a traditional British song, there are many versions on YouTube, here is one by John Tams for the TV Series “Sharpe” which was set in the Napoleonic Wars – 1803–1815.
